Verse of the Day
Matthew 5:43-45
“[Love for Enemies] ?You have heard that it was said, ?Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.? But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Dreamcatchers

In the spirit of Christian unity, a number of congregations including Church on the Journey—most of which reside within the Lamar Elementary School district—have made covenant together to perform a cooperative ministry in an effort to reach out to the children and families of our neighborhood. The overarching goal of our coalition is to combat the plight of generational poverty—one child, one family at a time. We call ourselves Dreamcatchers.

Currently, Dreamcatchers concentrates its efforts at Lamar Elementary School, where volunteers from our congregations work with children in the classrooms as tutors and/or as support for teachers. Our intent is to build personal relationships with Lamar students, parents and faculty while providing support through the provision of school supplies and other resources. In addition, we sponsor education opportunities for the school community such as Career Day in the spring of each year.

Volunteers are always welcome! For more information, please contact Gary Groves at 413-8326.
