Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ)
As one of the largest traditions founded on American soil,
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has had an important
role in the shaping of the Christian community in North America.
Since 1832, when the “Christians” under Barton W. Stone’s
leadership joined together with Alexander Campbell’s “Disciples
of Christ” movement to form a new tradition, this “church” as
sought to be a unifying force among Christians advocating that
no doctrine or human difference should be a point of division
among believers. For more information about the Christian Church
